Welcome Home To The Georgia Coast

Shrimp Boat - Shrimping is a vital aspect of the local economy in coastal Georgia. Everywhere you turn you see shrimpers headed out to sea or returning from sea with their days catch.

Marshes of Glynn -
Made famous by poet Sidney Lanier, the marshes of Glynn are among the most beautiful sites native to the Georgia Coast. Lanier wrote of this natural resource in his poem The Marshes of Glynn, and now the drawbridge linking the port of Brunswick with the world bears his name … the Sidney Lanier Bridge.

Christ Church - Founded in 1736 at this church John & Charles Wesley both served as chaplains during the early years of the church's history. Situated among beautiful live oak trees on the western point of St. Simons Island, with its Tiffany stained glass windows, the church draws thousands of visitors throughout the year. The present building seen here was erected in 1884.

St. Simons Lighthouse
- The original lighthouse, built by James Gould, was destroyed during the Civil War. Following the war, the lighthouse that stands today was erected. The St. Simons lighthouse is fully functional, and the caretaker's cottage currently serves as a museum housing local, coastal Georgia artifacts.

Beaches -
Families from all over the world visit the Golden Isles of Georgia each year to experience the rich history of the area and peaceful beaches. Sea life abounds with the most famous being the endangered loggerhead sea turtles that nest annually on Jekyll Island.

Brunswick City Hall
- Built in 1908 as the Custom's House, this federal building housed the post office, federal courtrooms, social security administration, etc. The building most recently served as the Brunswick City Hall and is now undergoing extensive restoration.

Glynn Academy Bell
- Chartered in 1788, Glynn Academy is the second oldest public school in the State of Georgia.

Liberty Ships
- This replica Liberty Ship, currently standing in Mary Ross Waterfront Park, depicts an exciting era in Glynn County. Between 1942 and 1945 a Brunswick-based company built 99 Liberty Ships which were used as cargo ships in W.W.II. It has been reported that over 16,000 timecards were punched daily and the shipyard's payroll crested at over $1 million per week.
